Accommodation
Grand Bali Beach, Sanur.
We stayed at the 5* Grand Bali Beach in Sanur. The rooms were lovely,
the hotel huge and very ornate. Staff were fantastic, room service very
reasonable and reliable. Breakfast was included and had a vast range
of hot, cooked and continental choices. The view from the restaurant
was directly out onto the lovely palm fringed beach.
Travelogue
This was a once in a lifetime trip. The
country was amazing and the people genuinely friendly. All are deeply
religious and believe in good karma, so there is very little theft or
unpleasantness. The culture is all around you, it is not for show. Religious
customs or offering fruit and gifts to the gods are everywhere, on every
pavement, wall, garden and building. It is a truly remarkable country.
Fab Tips
- Take a video camera, you will never be able to describe the things you see.
- Hire a personal guide and a mini bus. It may cost extra, but you will get a personal view of the island and extras. We visited a remote village off the tourist trail and even a school.
- Take an empty case, you will want to buy loads -we did!!
- There is little contact with the world, no newspapers etc. so get on line so that you can email friends or catch up the latest news from home.
