Overall Review Three full and highly enjoyable days. Where else in the world can you travel over a rain forest in a cable-car on the first day, travel to a classic tropical island and swim with tropical fish on a coral reef the second day, and walk in a rainforest and travel up a river looking for crocodiles on the third day. It was my second visit and somehow I enjoyed it even more the second time. Aussie hospitality abounds in Cairns.
The trips and accommodation were all good value. The experience of walking on the sandy beach at Cape Tribulation, discovering the sights and sounds of a tropical rainforest with an experienced guide and seeing the myriad of colours of the Barrier Reef will remain as great holiday memories for a long time to come.

Fab Tips 1) Swat up Lonely Planet Guide or similar before you go.
2) Book up as much as you can before you leave. It doesn't seem to make much difference price-wise and means you can enjoy each day without having to plan too much when you get there.
3) 24 hours on an aeroplane seems a long time but latest in-flight entertainment, a good book and stretch in Singapore are a big help.
4) Make sure you bring a bank card with Maestro/Cirrus logo. Can be used in most cash machines in Australia.
5) The only insects to worry about in the rainforest are mosquitos. If you know they like you, make sure you bring a good repellent.
6) Three days is bare minimum. If you have the time, allow at least a few extra days.
7) Try to combine flight ticket with Brisbane, Sydney or one of the other popular Australian destinations.

Must See Attractions 1) Skyrail, 15 km north of city centre. 2) Reef trip -leaves via city centre dock. 3) Daintree and Cape Tribulation - pick up from hotel.
