Accommodation Rondawals on a Game Reserve. We spent 4 days in the Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Game reserve in Northern Natal and the rondawals we stayed in were simple yet clean and easy to sleep in. The beds were comfortable, the room was equipt with a fridge/freezer, mirror and wash basin. Communial wash area for dishes etc, communial toilets and showers (very clean and well kept) enough facilities for the amount of rondawals. Cooking facilities each rondawal had there own braai (bbq) and also a communial kitchen with everything you needed , untensils (storeroom with more), stoves, wash sinks.

The rest of our holiday we stayed at our family home.

At Cape Town we stayed with a friend.

Travelogue Our holiday was amazing. I have lived in South Africa all my life but took my English boyfriend with and it was incredible. The weather is amazing from around April to June (not to hot but you get great sun).
Hluhluwe game reserve is a MUST if you want to see the wild yet beautiful aspects of the REAL South Africa - you see so many animals you would never think you would see...

Cape Town is amazing itself, a world on its own with Table mountain over looking the main city. Everywhere you go you are overcome by the sheer beauty of a mountain - it's rather nerve wrecking going up in the cable car but its very safe and the views are spectacular.
Cape Waterfront is busy with lots of restaurants and night clubs and tourist shops to buy. So many African culture curios. There are places you can get chartered yachts and helicopter rides.
Take a day out and visit the wine farms - if you are a wine fanatic it's definitely something you won't want to miss.
In total South Africa is an incredible place and I am proud to be associated with the Country.
A must for anyone !!

Fab Tips

  • Pack warm clothes but if you are going to a game reserve take a jacket as it does get chilly if you are sitting around the fire at night.
  • Always take insect repellent and if you are going into more bushier places take malaria tablets.
  • Definitely dont forget your costume A MUST FOR EVERYONE....
  • Change your money anywhere as long as you search around for a good rate.
  • Be careful and try and take half your money in travellers cheques.
  • Some parts of South Africa are dangerous but its like Brixton here in London - be careful and don't wear cameras around your neck or video cameras. Apply common sense and general knowledge on safety.
  • Not be put down because of the things you here in the news.......you will kick yourself if you don't go to South Africa.
