Travelogue We drove down to Dover to Calais. After leaving the port we drove up north to the Netherlands, visiting the province Limburg .

We were suprised to hear that a lot of people think the country is flat as a pancake but in Limburg they actually have hills.
Our starting point was Maastricht which is a beautifull old town which has little bistros in cellars, beautiful parks to explore and a zoo, where you can feed and pet the animals. There are some caves there you might want to visit - they are awsome.

From there we went to a town called Valkenburg there you have very very steep hills. It is a small town but if you have children there is some wonderfull places to visit like a working farm or theme park. It's really worth exploring and there's enough to keep young and old busy.

Vaals was our next pitstop. A must see is the forestry watch - the lookout tower gives some wonderful views over the borders into Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands

We stayed for the remaining days in a town called Kerkrade which is a well known for the world music concourse.
The town was once a active miners town and in the market square there's a huge miner statue holding a lamp.

Valkenburg and Maastricht are also a must for the clubbers - there are some great night time action in the nightclubs or, if your daring, go to one of the casino's and see if you can break the bank.

Make sure you have the right type of shoes along for all the walking you will do. You can hire a bycle and explore at a liesurely pace - there are well layed out bycle routes and paths.

The people themselves are very friendly and speak very good English.
